Souper Bowl Update

8 02 2011

On Sunday, February 6th– AKA Superbowl Sunday– the Jr. High Youth of FCC collected donations for the Ramona Food & Clothes Closet as a way of remembering the poor and the needy on a day when most of the rest of us are preoccupied by a multi-billion dollar football game (not that that’s all bad… Go Packers!). The students stood outside the church between services and after second service with empty soup bowls and pots in which they collected $769 of cash donations and at least 10 non-perishable food items! WOW! The generosity of the FCC family never ceases to amaze us! That makes 2011 our best year ever (our best year previous was 2009 when we collected $572). Thanks to the organization of the Souper Bowl of Caring, the participation of our Jr. High Youth, the generosity of the FCC family, and the hard work of the Ramona Food & Clothes Closet, the needs of many people in our community will be met and the love of God will be put on display.
